Raspberry Pi 3 - case
thingiverse
This is a design for 3D printing a Raspberry Pi 3 case. **Warning: This Design Is Not Compatible with Older Versions** * The case consists of two halves connected by screws. * Your Raspberry Pi 3 must be attached to the bottom half using screws. * Additional mounting holes are present on the bottom half if you prefer to attach the entire case to a VESA compliant mount. * The case exposes all major pi ports: power, audio, HDMI, LAN, four USB ports, and memory card slots. * By default, the GPIO pins are not exposed, but there is a perforated tab that allows access with a flat screwdriver. * The case supports regular size heat sinks. * It does not support fan installation. **Required Screws** Four M3 x 6mm sheet metal screws are needed to attach the pi to the case. Alternative: Four #4 x 3/4" sheet metal screws, or M3 x 18mm for attaching both cases together. Optional: Four 75mm VESA mounts **Credit** This design was inspired by an outstandingly awesome and detailed design by [0110-M-P](https://www.thingiverse.com/0110-M-P) at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:922740, which includes multiple designs for both pi 2 and pi 3. The only changes made were to add a raspberry logo vent on top and additional vents on the sides. **Future Improvements** #### Printing If you use a coarse 3D printing layout, as I did with this design, you may experience issues with incomplete leaves of the raspberry pi logo (see picture). This will be fixed soon. #### Screws The M3 screw size for connecting the pi to the case is slightly larger than necessary. Although I had no issues, it felt tight when attaching the pi carefully due to a design flaw in the original. The Pi requires M2.5 screws, but the holes on this design are too large. This may not be addressed unless more cases are printed. #### Led Lights The led lights are fully covered by default, which should still allow them to shine through the plastic. However, when I 3D printed the bottom half of my case in red, I could see the red led clearly but barely saw the green. Future designs will expose the leds. #### Memory Slot The memory slot works fine now, and future designs may expose more of it. #### VESA Mounts I am considering creating a design without VESA mounts.
