Overview:

I wanted to design a case for my Raspberry Pi 3 A+ supporting a fan with parts I had laying around. I only had a 40mm blower fan and as I couldn't see any models for this, I decided to make my own.

My make of this has both FDM (Case & Lid) and Resin printing (Ducting) - Although it is possible to print the ducting using an FDM printer, I choose to use a semi transparent resin so I could see the Pi's heatsink.

*Requires modifying the Pi by removing the USB port*

Hardware required:

Will Update soon

Printing Instructions:

Case:

Resolution: 0.2mm layer height

20% infill

4 perimeters

4 top layers

3 bottom layers

Support required - YES

Print orientation - Bottom down

Lid:

Resolution: 0.2mm layer height

20% infill

3 perimeters

4 top layers

4 bottoms layers

Support required - NO

Print orientation: Top down

Ducting:

Resolution: 0.08mm layer height

Print orientation: hole side towards build plate

Summary:

This is my first CAD Design and Mk2 of this model.

I plan to rework this model in the future to improve the following:

Make it easier to print without supports

Reduce the amount of plastic used (I aim to also reduce the volume of this design)

Use less specific hardware (e.g. clips instead of screws)

Test that the Auto Fan control (https://thepihut.com/products/auto-fan-control-module-for-raspberry-pi) fits inside the case, if not - redesign so that it does.
