Raspberry Pi 2 Case with Windows 10 Logo

When Microsoft revealed its plans to bring Windows 10 to the Raspberry Pi 2 in 2015, I was bursting with excitement about the limitless possibilities this move would unleash on the maker community. To kick off my enthusiasm, I set out to design a case for the Pi 2 that seamlessly incorporated the iconic Windows 10 logo. I first headed over to Thingiverse before embarking on my project to see if anyone had already beaten me to the punch, since reinventing the wheel was far from ideal. My heart swelled with delight as I discovered that user jayftee had recently released an upgraded version of his highly-regarded Safe and Secure Raspberry Pi case, complete with various design options – one of which proudly showcased the Windows logo. At first glance, this new design seemed perfect, except for a few essential details. Unfortunately, it lacked any convenient cutouts for effortless GPIO access or provisions for ribbon-cabled accessories like the Pi Camera. Happily, jayftee had been kind enough to include the Sketchup .skp file in the design's downloadable files – a courtesy I highly recommend that other creators should adopt. Armed with this valuable asset, I was able to modify the case to perfectly suit my needs. To start, I expertly carved out space for the GPIO pins and also included two precision-cut slots for ribbon-cabled accessories. Note that these aren't fully extruded and require a razor-thin 0.5mm layer removal – easily accomplished with an Exacto knife. This thoughtful design ensures versatility, as not everyone will require these features. To ensure complete transparency, I have kindly made my revised .skp files available for anyone who may need to fine-tune this design further. Instructions: Print using your standard printing settings. My printouts featured a layer height of 0.2 mm and an average speed of 70 mm/sec. Be sure to utilize Blue Hawk 4-40 machine screws measuring no more than 22mm in length.
