Raspberry Pi 2 Box
thingiverse
I recently acquired an acrylic case for my Pi that was a great design initially but unfortunately broke down on me. It occurred to me later that I could easily design the exact same case using 3D printing technology. After making some modifications, I was able to create a better version of the original case. This particular design will work seamlessly with both the Raspberry Pi B+ and the Raspberry Pi 2 models. The lid is hinged, allowing users to access the pins without having to disassemble the entire case. I am currently designing a bracket that will enable users to stack these cases neatly, as I have multiple cases in my setup and would like to keep them organized. Stay tuned for further updates on this project. Update: This box also fits the Raspberry Pi 3 model perfectly. I've heard concerns about heat issues with the Pi 3s, so I've made some adjustments to address this problem. The updated version features taller walls, a back piece with vent holes, and a new top that can be secured with a 40mm fan. These updates have been added to the filename with the prefix "Tall". Additionally, I've included another set of plastic pads near the front, similar to those at the rear, to prevent the case from sitting on pins. Print Settings: Printer: Rapide Lite 200 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: The printing process was quite straightforward, as all the components are flat objects that require minimal effort to print. Tolerances were pretty tight for the slots, but I didn't need to perform any filing, as they snapped together perfectly. Depending on your desired level of rigidity, you can adjust the infill percentage accordingly; however, 20% worked well for me. Since I typically print on a Borosilicate sheet, I designed the case so that all flat surfaces face outward, resulting in a neater finish. Designing This Project: I created this design using Solidworks. If you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to share them with me; I can incorporate them into future revisions of this project.
