RASA8 Dew Shield
thingiverse
Used plastic glue UHU ALLPLAST. There is a “mini dovetail” connection between the parts. This connection is “weak by design”. This enables filling the glue in between of the parts. If the connection would be strong and exact, the glue is “shifted” out when assembling. As the parts need to be adjusted when assembling, you should not use a fast glue as the time for adjusting is too small. Even the UHU ALLPAST give you a minute or so only. Then it takes a day for hardening. Additional Parts (threaded sockets 4 x M4, 8 x M3, (length ~7mm)), a metal strip (~0.5mm) to reduce the mechanical force on the small plastic clamp parts. This strip is placed to the “small step” in the back of the clamp parts. The clamp part is then put in the base ring in the direction the metal strip points down and the skews will press on the metal strip when tightening. The cover is assembled using ~30 mm long bolts (something you can find and fit into the holes of the parts) and glue. Additional black velours is used to avoid light disturbing inside the dew shield. Please do carefully check all the attached STL Files before printing. As it is some time gone already, I am not 100% sure all files are the correct ones (and there were several not successful models during “development”). I can also share the CAD files, but they are done with an old (free) software what is no longer available for download. The number of parts what must be printed is the last number in file name. If there is a x instead of the number, it depends on use case (number of wires you want to feed outside). I would recommend printing 4 parts for the _x.stl files so you can finally choose the configuration of your dew shield. The overall printing time may be more than one week. Do not tighten the skews too strong! The safeties can be used (connect to the dovetails of the RASA8 and use the original safety screws supplied with the RASA8, to ensure the dew shield will not drop even the clamping pressure might be too small. Hope the description is of value. Sorry for my bad English, good luck. :-)
