Random Probability & Percentages
pinshape
This is an example of a random variable, approximated by the probability distribution known as the normal or Gaussian distribution. PLINCO! The ball can land in any of ten catches at random. With all things being equal, there's a 10% chance that the ball will land in any one catch. But start closing off some of the catches and everything changes. Ten open catches out of ten mean each catch has a 10% chance of winning. Nine open catches out of ten give each catch an 11.1% chance of winning. Eight open catches out of ten mean each catch has a 12.5% chance of winning. Seven open catches out of ten give each catch a 14.3% chance of winning. Six open catches out of ten mean each catch has a 16.6% chance of winning. Five open catches out of ten give each catch a 20% chance of winning. Four open catches out of ten mean each catch has a 25% chance of winning. Three open catches out of ten give each catch a 33.3% chance of winning. Two open catches out of ten mean each catch has a 50% chance of winning. One open catch out of ten means the catch has a 100% chance of winning.
