This fancy goldfish variety is highly prized in Japan. A ranchu has an egg-shaped body with a deep belly that makes up 5/8 to 3/4 the length of the fish. Unlike other goldfish, this one does not have a dorsal fin and breeding standards demand that its back should be completely free of any dorsal fin remnants. The ranchu's tail meets the caudal peduncle at a forty-five degree angle, giving it a unique swimming motion. In addition to this, the tail lobes are rounded, and all other fins are paired. This model comes with complete body control in the Maya 2018 file, capable of performing complex movements smoothly as shown above.
