Ramp Walker Toy - 1 Piece Print

thingiverse

This is a basic ramp walker toy that will print as a single piece model without any assembly required. Eight support tabs are included (as shown in the photo) to keep the print aligned during the build process. The model needs to be printed upside down and once finished, the tabs must be carefully cut with an X-acto knife. After cutting the tabs, the arms and legs need to be worked back and forth to unstick them completely. The ramp walker should perform well on a 6-7% grade slope, although several factors contribute to its overall performance. For optimal results, printing is best achieved using a 30 line skirt with a 0.0 offset setting. This ensures that the features on top of the head remain intact and in contact with the build plate. A brim can be used, but it's not recommended as it doesn't work as well. Supports should not be used during printing, as they may fuse the parts together permanently. To highlight the model details, extra fine point Sharpie felt pens can be used. This is my first iteration of the ramp walker and I'm anticipating a few future updates to improve its performance. Currently, it walks erratically if the bottom surfaces of the feet are not smooth. Watching this in action is quite amusing as though it has a mind of its own. The bottoms of the feet may require some filing or light sanding to remove any burrs that develop during printing. Despite its simple design, achieving the final result required dozens of test prints to perfect the part's functionality.
