Rammstein is a German Neue Deutsche Harte band that formed in Berlin back in 1994. The lineup has remained constant ever since it first got started, featuring Till Lindemann on lead vocals, Richard Z. Kruspe leading guitar riffs, Paul Landers rocking the rhythm guitar, Oliver Riedel slapping out bass lines, Christoph Schneider pounding away on drums, and Christian Flake Lorenz jamming out on keyboards. The band was able to record demos before landing a record deal with Motor Music after winning a contest for up-and-coming bands. Working with producer Jacob Hellner, they dropped their debut album Herzeleid in 1995, although the initial sales weren't so hot. But the more they performed live, the bigger their fan base grew. By the time their second album Sehnsucht rolled around two years later, they were riding high and took the top spot in Germany. That album's singles, including Engel and Du hast, blew up huge worldwide, while their live record Live aus Berlin proved to be just as popular. The following year saw them join Universal Music and drop their third album Mutter, which spawned six killer singles that charted everywhere across Europe. Lead single Sonne even made it all the way to No. 2 in Germany. Next came Reise, Reise in 2004, with singles Mein Teil and Amerika reaching No. 2 in Germany again. In 2005, Rammstein released their fifth album Rosenrot and live record Vö lkerball just a year later. With their early work in Neue Deutsche Harte still making waves today, the band has proven to be incredibly influential within that genre. Commercially speaking, they're totally on fire – their albums regularly top charts around the globe and have racked up tons of gold and platinum certifications across multiple countries. Rammstein's sound is all about taking you to the edge with heavy, atmospheric vibes. With such critical acclaim and massive commercial success under their belts, this German powerhouse band looks set to continue shaking things up for years to come!
