RamjetX - Magnetic Shifter Sim Racing

Hi Internet Sim Racers...

This is the V5 Magnetic Shifters for my Thrustmaster and Logitech 70mm Hub adaptors.

What's in the kit?

1 x Mech plate with left and right mounting points
1 x LR Shifter Arm with mounting hole for paddles
1 x LR Shifter Arm stubby with 3mm holes for commercial paddles
1 x LR Shifter Arm with the paddle embedded if you want an aio approach
1 x LR Paddle If you want to make separate paddle
1 x Riser block for the paddle if you want to adjust the height of the paddle

Ok, so how does this work... so y'know those momentary buttons everyone uses on button plates? Well simply slide the nut into the mech, screw in the button from the front and keep turning it to set the depth. Once you have it in enough for the shifter arm to rotate and push the button, you're good to go. I wired mine through the hole in the shifter plate directly into my wheel plate.

Now be warned, this is a prototype and it's intended for my own wheel plate designs which will come to thingiverse between the screaming kids and the cranky boss. So bare with me...

That said, it feels good with the tactile switch. If you need more 'feel' then a 10mm x 2mm Magnet superglued in the round holders will make it feel more premium but it is optional.

The pre tension is of course adjustable by winding in and out the screw for the arm... play with it and get your setting just the way you like it.

Why did I design it this way? Well, it's simple... it fits my 70mm hubs cleanly... the buttons I have a million of at home. And it's silent!!! no click click noise annoying the wife. Tactile feel is great. Magnets just complete the 'quality' feel.

I did say it's a prototype yeah?... so check back... I may have made some changes in the future. Love to hear comments... Nice ones though, I'm easily upset...and nobody wants to see a grown man cry, right?

Ok and if you're going to race I'd recommend:
https://aussiebeertubes.com.au/photo-gallery/racing-helmet-beer-tube/?v=6cc98ba2045f

... and one last thing... If your going to download my models and sell them online as your own and make profit from them. May I gently remind you that the Tip the designer button does work ;)
Category: DIY
