Ramen Tower 1

Ramen Tower 1

Ramen Tower 2 reimagines a scan of a pack of dried ramen noodles by artist Tom Burtonwood. The scan is stretched and distorted to form a complex, organic structure that dominates the surrounding landscape. Resembling a colossal termite tower, the form suggests a cutting-edge green building design. Alternatively, the structure may be a windowless building whose carefully crafted surfaces ensure electronic privacy, shielding the inhabitants of a high-security organization from unwanted surveillance. The base of Ramen Tower 2 is a simple rectangular prism to facilitate a seamless transition for those approaching this extraterrestrial structure. By maintaining traditional proportions, large-scale 3D printing enables the outer skin of the tower to assume unusual new shapes. This work has been selected for display at the Outsider Art Fair NYC (Jan 21-24 2016) in the Curated Space: Babel.http://www.outsiderartfair.com/fair/1651/program
