Bighorn Sheep is found in North America and is known for its impressive horns, which can grow up to 3 feet long. Dall Sheep is also found in North America and has a distinctive pale gray coat. Snow Sheep is found in the Arctic regions of North America and Russia and has a white coat that helps it blend in with its snowy surroundings. Ovis sheep are social animals that live in flocks, which can range in size from a few individuals to several hundred. These flocks are usually led by a dominant male, who defends his territory against other males during the rutting season. Mating in Ovis is characterized by males competing for females in estrus. Dominant males with large horns and body size have an advantage over smaller males. Females typically choose dominant males based on these characteristics, which are desirable in offspring.
