Raised Varia Rack Mount
thingiverse
This is a remix of my Varia rack mount. The problem with the previous version is that the fender would occasionally hit it when I forget and pop the bike up on its back wheel or when I remove the rear wheel when fixing a flat and put the bike down upright instead of laying it on its side. This mount just moves the Varia up 45mm so the fender hits the rack first. It also uses a Bar Fly Garmin mount adapter since that's what I had around. The Fusion 360 file can be modified to fit other Garmin adapters, most likely by suppressing the last two features/extrudes, and changing the PuckHoleSpan, PuckHoleDiamater and PuckNutWidth parameters because non-Bar Fly adapters probably have different hole spacing and use M3 flathead bolts instead of the M4 used by the Bar Fly. Probably PuckHoleSpan = 22, PuckHoleDiamater = 3.2 and PuckNutWidth = 5.5.Additional parts needed:Bar Fly Garmin mount adapter as mentioned above2 M4x12mm flathead bolts for the adapter, though 10mm will also work2 M4 nuts, preferably nylock2 M5x12mm bolts for the rack, though 10mm will also work2 M5 nut, preferably nylockEdit 24 July 2024: I added a version with a support behind the Varia. If the light gets hit from behind, it is supported well enough that it's less likely to break either the Barfly puck or the ears on the light. The threaded hole is if you use my RCT-715 to quarter turn adapter, you can put a regular socket head bolt there to compensate for the difference in height.
