The how-to for the original can be found here: https://openhome.cc/eGossip/OpenSCAD/TextCylinder.html. I began by using the PI code from the how-to as a starting point, but I wanted to create it without support lines. So, I thought, "What if I write a loop that allows me to stack text and layers with each layer scaled down?" After googling, I discovered that OpenSCAD already has this feature built-in! I simply added a scale parameter to the linear-extrude. linear_extrude(height = char_thickness, scale=.5) I also removed the poly-lines to achieve my desired result. Additionally, I added code to curve the bottom of the letters to match the cylinder curve. While trying to implement spiral mode with dots or text, this was a useful addition. However, it is unclear whether it is actually needed. This project is still a work in progress and all comments - both positive and negative - are welcome.
