Raised 3xMGN Bed Assembly BLV
thingiverse
I wanted to get rid of my original ANET under-bed assembly because it was wobbly and mine was slightly skewed. The fact that I had thick foam insulation glued under my heated bed didn't help, as when the bed was set low it would scratch the Y-motor mount. It only uses three MGN carriages, which makes alignment easier now. Using four would make the bed over-constrained and harder to align. The bed carriage is cut from a 4mm piece of aluminum sheet using a jigsaw. You can download the dxf or pdf file for reference. Hole sizes are marked on one of the pictures, but you should not drill holes from the template. Instead, use your own bed as a guide and drill them accordingly. With this mod, you will lose about 20mm of z-height. I'm not too concerned about that. For assembly, you'll need longer m4 bolts for the MGN12 blocks and some longer m4 bolts for the Y-belt clamp. I chose to go with a fixed bed without any springs. I bolted it as tightly as possible using m3 nuts, which has made it rock solid now. However, the bed calibration was quite challenging.
