I stand with the lid raised, L to R, as I work on my printer mod. The holes are used for elastic and TPU filament feed, and the spool is located outside on the floor. Double-sided tape attaches it securely, ensuring a 5mm gap all around the base so the lid clears the bottom of the stand. This is hands-down the best modification I've made to my printers.
