Raise3D Filament feed grommet for Acrylic door
thingiverse
Raise3D printers store their Filament spools behind a secure acrylic door that can be easily opened for maintenance. When working with large spools, you have the flexibility to leave the door open and feed the filament directly through. To simplify this process, I used a step drill (also known as a step-bit) to create a ~14.3 mm hole in the printer's design. By replicating this size in CAD software, I ensured a snug fit between the grommet and the hole diameter. The steep angle of the grommet guides the filament smoothly into the feeder tubes, creating an efficient path for the material to flow. Additionally, I included a large enough opening in the grommet to accommodate nylon tubing, although this feature is purely aesthetic and not necessary for functionality.
