Rainford Retro Sign

Rainford Retro Sign

I wanted a retro-style sign for my office and maker bench that would add some fun to the space. My last name is relatively unique, but maybe there are others out there who share it and might be interested in this design. To print this sign, I used my LulzBot TAZ 6 printer with regular resolution and 20% infill. No rafts or supports were needed. I printed the sign in dark blue nGen filament. After printing, some minor cleanup was required to remove bumps and high spots. An X-acto knife made quick work of this task. I designed the sign using SketchUp, where I installed the Lobster font and extruded the letters. A base was added to keep the letters together as a single piece. Filler was created for the dot over the "i" and every other letter was raised so that the serifs would stand out more in shadows. The letters were also lifted above the base for clear visibility.
