Rain meter
thingiverse
This electronic rain meter employs a parametric design to measure precipitation without daily user intervention. The clapper fills with rain, toppling over to the other side and triggering subsequent claps, with the total number of claps indicating overall precipitation. Assemble the device using 3mm filament, screws, or coat hanger wire for free-moving clapper action. To count claps, utilize a bicycle computer by inputting the rain/clap mm conversion and mounting its magnet to the clapper. The detector should be secured to the support, allowing the magnet to pass with each clap. Precision calibration involves pouring 100ml of water while counting claps, enabling the OpenSCAD script to determine the equivalent mm rainfall. Future developments may include an anemometer for additional meteorological measurements.
