Rain Gauge Adaptor and Sun Shield
thingiverse
I tackled two challenges recently: one involved a rain gauge that had survived under the sun for about a year or two before its plastic components failed, forcing me to purchase a replacement. The new gauges I found were mostly triangular in shape, but my existing holder was designed specifically for round types and posed an awkward angle when trying to replace it. That's why I came up with this solution: a snug-fitting adapter that allows the triangular rain gauge to be securely housed within its original round holder while also shielding it from direct sunlight. To assemble this adapter, simply print both parts and attach them together using glue, ensuring they're properly aligned. Once attached, you can insert the adapter into your existing holder without any issues. The rain gauge should slide in and out smoothly. Some of you might think that mounting a triangular holder with the new gauge would have been easier, but that wouldn't have been as much fun, and now my round holder is versatile enough to accommodate both round and triangular versions of the rain gauge if needed.
