
"Rain Bull" engraving, Kamyana Mohyla

This ancient engraving can be found in Ukraine, at the ceiling of one of Kamyana Mohyla's grottoes - the Bull Grotto. Typically, it's seen as a Bull or some mythical creature, interpreted as "Bull with trunk". However, the idea that this creature depicts a mammoth has also been proposed. This image is dated back to the Eneolithic-Early Bronze Age period. A detailed article about it will be uploaded soon. Currently, this block resides in the Archaeological Museum of the Institute of Archaeology of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. The ocher on the block results from restoration work, although we cannot confirm what part of the image was created by ancient people.
