Rain Barrel Water Diverter

My father-in-law gifted me with a substantial rain barrel, prompting me to devise a way to adapt my gutter without totally severing it. To achieve this goal, I created a template that would enable me to cut a square hole in the gutter and channel the collected rainwater into my barrel. I carefully fabricated the square opening, positioned the template within the hole, and sealed its edges with silicone before securing some sheet metal screws directly into the gutter itself. The following night, I successfully harnessed a gentle drizzle, managing to accumulate several inches of water in my rain barrel, thus validating my innovative approach as a resounding success!
