Holds the barrel in place when (near) empty. A storm blew mine around while almost empty. Also valuable if you leave the barrel in place while winterized. This is designed for a 30 Gallon Drum. I use 3 of these on mine, holds well. Designed for a drywall-type flat-head screw into the platform the barrel is sitting on. Friction holds it tight against the barrel, ie no screws into the barrel.
