I'm Connecting a Downspout to a Rain Barrel Opening Using a Custom Adapter Made from a MakerBot Replicator 2X Printer. The challenge was connecting an existing rectangular downspout (80mm x 60mm) to the opening of my rain barrel. I didn't want to cut into the downspout or the lid, so I designed and printed a custom adapter to bridge the gap. The downspout itself is a standard model from Home Depot, available at most hardware stores. To print the adapter, I used my MakerBot Replicator 2X printer with the following settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2X I opted for rafts to ensure stable and level printing, which is essential when working with small parts like this adapter. Supports were also enabled to prevent any warping or deformation during the printing process. The print resolution was set to 0.20mm, providing a smooth finish that would not interfere with water flow through the downspout.
