Rain Barrel Downspout Diverter (Customizable)
thingiverse
I attended a workshop hosted by my town a few years ago about collecting and using rainwater. We got to make our own rain barrels from recycled containers used for transporting and storing food, like olive oil. I finally had the chance to set up the barrels I made, but I wasn't happy with the design of the diverter they came with. It was lame. After searching online, I didn't find anything on Thingiverse that fit my needs. That's why I created a new diverter. This one is fully adjustable, so you can customize it however you want. ## Update July 13, 2018 - Version 2 I've made many changes to this version. I've marked it as a work in progress until I get everything installed and update the pictures. The original versions have been renamed. Here are the updates for the new version: * Thanks to people who pointed out wall thickness issues with Cura, I completely reworked the design. * Better specifications for wall thickness, so it works well with Cura or Slic3r PE. * It prints without any support material! * The grate at the bottom is better designed and has more options to customize it. * The outlet now fits inside the pipe below it, so you don't need caulk to seal it up. * There's an optional flap at the top to direct water into the diverter. * The SCAD will generate a model in the right orientation for printing without support. The only part that might be a problem is the drip_flap, so setting that true will flip the object upside down. * If you want to switch which side your outlet is on, just mirror the part on the X axis in your slicing software. * The geometry is simpler overall, but unfortunately I lost the nice curve on the front of the diverter.
