Railway Carriage (Guard's Van 00 Gauge)
thingiverse
This is a late 1800s early 1900s Great Western Railway Guard's/ passenger brake van, a project I tackled with my Dad, who knows more about these things than I do. If you're going to run the carriage, it would benefit from "off the shelf" wheels, but I'm experimenting with weighting the carriage before cheating and doing that. We're using screw link couplings because they look more realistic; however, I haven't added any holes to the buffer beam on this version, as people may use different couplings. Assembling it is quite straightforward, although you'll need to fettle edges to get it to fit nicely - the orientation of the print has been crucial on my printer, so I've included the parts in the STL file in the orientation that worked best for me. The brake van was printed using PLA, and my Dad used Humbrol oil paint, which I think looks better than acrylic - or, at least, that's my excuse for my terrible painting skills. I printed all the parts on the standard setting for the Creator Pro. If you make one, let me know how you got on!
