Railcar Chassis
thingiverse
Continuing a theme that started with the Mine trolley for Stop Motion and has taken on a life of its own, here is the development that has been brewing in the background for some time now. This is a railway chassis designed to fit 1:24 scale standard gauge tracks. It works really well with Die-Cast muscle cars from Maisto and MZ. I've also built one using the DeLorean Model by heisenberg333, scaling it down to 1:24 scale was a bit tricky at printing time. There are many cool-looking car models on Thingiverse. You may need to modify the Mainframe component (Railcar-Mainframe.stl) to fit your chosen model, but I've set up the mesh to be easy to modify with any halfway decent modeler capable of working at the vertex and polygon level. The component filenames include the number you require of each item. For instance, Railcar-BogieInSidesx4.stl needs four prints. If there's no number noted, print it once. In the downloads, you'll find an assembly guide: Railcar_Chassis_Assemblyv0.pdf Additional things you'll need: * A 1:24 scale car body * Some 4mm diameter dowel for axles and locator pins (or M4 threaded rod) * M4 x 10mm dome head cap screws, washers, and nuts to secure the bogies to the frame (if you want them to move that is) * Some wire for pipes (7.5A insulated wire is about the right size) Here are my previous projects incorporated into this project: * Bogies for 1:24 Scale Standard Rail Gauge * Parametric footplate * Vintage Railcar * Railbike Chassis Happy building. **Update 3rd Feb 2019** If you're looking for tracks to display it on, check out these parametric track models. You'll just need to set the track gauge to 60mm and sleeper length to 80mm to be compatible with this model. * Standard Straight Track * Standard Curve Track * OS-Railway Straight Track * OS-Railway Curved Track
