My dishwasher finally gave up. For the second time in its life, it let me down, and this time I'm not about to shell out another $30 for a replacement part that's just going to break again. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and designed a fix using OpenSCAD. The solution consists of three key components: the wheel, the hub, and the washer. The hub serves as the central pivot point, allowing the wheel to spin freely around it. Meanwhile, the wheel itself fits snugly inside the side track in my dishwasher. The washer takes care of maintaining a precise 0.5mm gap between the hub and the metal washers that are typically used. And at the heart of this entire contraption is a sturdy 1" #8-32 bolt that keeps everything spinning smoothly. One of the best parts about this fix? All of the measurements are completely parametric, so if you want to create your own version, you've got all the freedom you need to do just that.
