Rail Mounting System for DC Components
thingiverse
RMSDC is a rail mounting system designed specifically for low-power DC components, often used in Arduino and RPi projects. Each component can be quickly assembled into a functional hardware interface by joining pieces with small zip ties, approximately 3mm in diameter. The design allows each part to be printed on printers with limited build volumes, splitting larger pieces into multiple parts that can be joined using "Joiner" pieces. Each hole is precisely 3mm in diameter, with the center point located exactly 4mm from any edge and 8mm from the next hole's center point. The side rails can be connected to each other by flipping and overlapping them, allowing users to expand the system as needed. When attaching angle brackets, a 2x2 joiner should be used to fill in the gap on the rear of the side rail, significantly strengthening the assembled unit. LED Holder Details The LED Holder part is designed to accommodate a 5mm Plastic Bevel LED Holder, similar to those from Adafruit. It can be easily integrated into the RMSDC system for various lighting needs. Assembly Demonstration To see how the RMSDC system is assembled, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1UOzhHdCig Print Settings Printer: PrintrBot Play Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 15% Notes: Printing each part on a raft is highly recommended, and no supports should be necessary if the parts are oriented properly in the slicer.
