Raider Corvette
thingiverse
My first huge ship design. My son blew my tie fighters out of the sky with the CR-90 that I made and I needed a huge imperial ship to counter. Can't wait to get the two huge ships on the table together. I must mention Thing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1779581 that I used for inspiration and scale. I will upload the stand as a separate Thing. The model is scaled at a proper 1:270 to fit in with the rest of the game so the total length is about 555mm. The twin laser cannons are articulated and pivot on two axes. I have included solar wings with bumps and without if that is your preference. Learning to make those bumps really stretched my blender skills and in the end, after more time than I care to admit, I had to 'join' instead of using a boolean modifier as it caused havoc to a computer with 24gb of RAM. But, I was pleased that they sliced with Prusa Slic3er. Also, there are the solar wings in one piece and in three pieces for easier printing which I used. I have included a joined stl for assembly reference. All parts except the twin laser cannons were printed at 0.15 layer height with a 0.4 nozzle, three shell layers, and 15% infill. Supports were needed in some sections. I used Gorilla Glue for the large sections and CA for the smaller pieces. I had to file the bridge to fit into the 4th section, but generally, everything fit together well. I had to use some filler between the 3rd and 4th sections as the print started to lift and created a seam. Total print time was about 100 hours and I used about 1Kg of PLA. The Twin Laser Cannons were printed with resin. I used a cut piece of a paperclip for the up/down axis. The rotational pivot is complete. I used CA glue for the joins. Ready to hunt some Rebel scum.
