Radius Measurement tool

Measure the radius of something to create a CAD holder or accessory? Need a way to model and reproduce that sleek round surface? This might help. Attach a Digital Dial indicator to calculate the radius of a curved surface. Designed to fit a Digital Dial Indicator with an 8mm shaft diameter, such as the "Neoteck DTI Digital Dial Indicator 1''/25.4mm | Digital Probe Indicator Dial Test Gauge High Resolution: 0.0005''/0.01mm" on Amazon US. To zero, raise or lower the plastic component along the shaft while it's placed on a flat surface - it should just touch the surface at full extension. Secure it with a #6 set/machine screw if needed. There's an optional second channel for extra precision. The formula to determine radius is: Radius = [(Cord Length^2) / 4 + (Measured Height^2)] / (2 * Measured Height). The chord length between long arms is 50mm, and between short arms is 20mm. Subtract 15 from your reading if using short arms due to a 15mm vertical offset. Use the provided Excel file for calculations or an online calculator like planetcalc.com/1421/. Note that measurement accuracy decreases with increasing radius size.
