The Zvezda-54 radio network lamp, released in Q2 of 1954, was manufactured by Kharkov's Kommunar and Moscow's Mospribor plants. This receiver marked a significant mid-fifties event in the USSR, as it deviated from the monotonous gray receivers with wooden cases. Media of that era praised Zvezda-54 as an innovative design breakthrough and the latest trend, symbolizing hope for a new, vibrant life. However, it's a replica of France's Excelsior-52. The Soviet government allowed defense enterprises to produce consumer goods alongside special products, leading to Zvezda-54's development by IRPA and Kommunar plant from 1952. Production transferred to Mospribor in Q3 of 1954, with a chassis upgrade in the same quarter. Both factories produced 674,000 Star-54 receivers in red or green cases until 1959. The ISH logo appears on some devices' back covers and instructions.
