Radio Shack Dune Warrior Wheel Shock/Strut Top
thingiverse
One daughter rode with my other daughter in a bumper car and the spring bounced out into the yard somehow. Unlike "hobby grade" RC cars, you can't get replacement parts for these "branded" models apparently. So, I headed to Tinkercad and my 3D printer instead. It worked well and I salvaged a spring from an old pair of garden shears and got back in the game! If you want a perfectly printed top, print it separately and glue it on the column, I printed it all at once because looks didn't matter, only function did. This works with this Radio Shack RC car model, maybe others too. The best part is that my daughter is finally interested in 3D printing and design now! Print Settings Printer: Print Rite DIY 3D Rafts: No Supports: It doesn't matter Resolution: .2mm Infill: 25% Notes: I made sure it was smooth to function correctly, but appearance wasn't important. I used a drill to clear out the tube for fit. I added little washers to help keep the car shell in place, they disappeared today as well. If I figure out how to make retaining pins, I'll post them too, but PLA isn't flexible enough for that. I added the bottom section of the shock because it needed to be printed separately and then glued together due to its shape. Custom Section Reason Uh-oh, I couldn't download it from Thingiverse or customize something close - I had to actually design something in 3D. Since the original was made of Unobtanium, I decided to post it even though it's a simple item probably no one else will need...
