Radiator cover spacer

I have a clever disguise covering one of my living room radiators, and although it's super handy as an extra shelf, I'm always wondering if it must be seriously hurting the thermal performance of the radiator. Adding a chair in front of it isn't making much difference either. These clever spacers give me a 25 mm air gap . Feeling the back of my arm over the gap, I can tell hot air is definitely rising, so they're actually doing something.
