Radial Ran Fang - E3D Cyclops and Chimera Editions
thingiverse
Remixes for the Radial Fan Fang are now available for the E3D Chimera dual extruder and Cyclops. High infill is strongly recommended, especially on "sensor editions," to prevent weak mounts. A note: The iconic "Ball of air" effect is less effective on the Chimera than on the Cyclops. It's impossible to create a dual focal point for the Chimera with just two fan ducts. It has been pointed out that the fan ducts seem about 1 mm further back than ideal. This intentional change was made because mounting screw holes tend to be relatively weak and break easily, no matter how they're printed. Adding small (1mm thick) washers on both sides of the mount hole helps prevent this issue. To assemble: place a washer on the screw, feed it through the mount hole, add another washer, then screw into the heatsink. Update: A Simplify3D mesh issue has been resolved and a hole was added to the BLTouch mount for wire passage. Update: Non-manifold sections of models that caused weak areas or holes in sensor and fan mounts have been fixed. First Chimera versions are now optimized with reduced polygon counts. Although "thingiview" and preview images may appear chunky, finished prints are almost indistinguishable from the originals. Measurements for Cyclops were corrected, and the BLTouch mount was raised by 3 mm. Last Chimera models have been added, and the BLTouch mount has been moved to better clear the duct. Update: Self-intersections on some models that caused weak areas or holes during printing have been fixed. Update: Some issues with self-intersections in Simplify3D still exist, making parts weak. Slic3r seems able to auto-correct these issues; it's recommended for printing until Simplify3D issues are resolved. Update: Finally, Simplify3D issues have been resolved, and models should now work with any slicer. Thank you MakePrintable.com for assistance in resolving original STL issues. Apologies for previous inconvenience. Please report any problems found, and I will investigate them.
