The 9-cylinder radial engine in this CATIA creation harks back to Charles Manly's 1904 engine powering Dr. Samuel Langley's Aerodrome. Despite an unsuccessful launch from a Potomac River houseboat, the engine demonstrated potential for high-horsepower, low-weight aircraft engines.
