Rack Rail - 19" Rack Mount
thingiverse
This is a versatile rail assembly for mounting equipment in a standard 19" rackmount configuration. I engineered it to accommodate the secure fastening of 10-32 rack screws and matching hex nuts, which are recessed into slots on the back of the rail for easy insertion. Although the fit was somewhat snug (requiring screw-assisted nut seating), the parts mesh perfectly without needing adhesives to hold them in place. To attach the rails to a cabinet, I employed #8 pan head wood screws; #10 screws could also be used with equivalent results. I've included STL files for 1u, 2u, and 4u rail configurations. If you need a different length, simply open the SCAD file and set the RU variable on the first line to your desired number of rack units. You can then render the model (please note that longer rails may require additional rendering time), export it as an STL, and proceed with printing. To customize the rail dimensions for your specific hardware needs, examine the four variables below the RU setting in the SCAD code. Verify that they align with your mounting hardware's specifications and adjust them accordingly if necessary. I printed my rails at 10% infill using Duramic 3D Premium PLA Plus filament, which yielded strong and aesthetically pleasing results.
