rack mount case for pidp8
thingiverse
A bespoke rack mount case is being designed specifically for Oscars' pidp8 project, available online at http://obsolescence.wixsite.com/obsolescence/pidp-8. This is an ongoing work in progress. The case is crafted from 3mm red and 6mm green MDF material, with cyan engraving details. The standoffs above the board are precisely placed at 20mm, 10mm on the rear, and 12mm on the front of the board, ensuring a secure fit. Assembly begins with the pwba mounting plate as the initial part of the box, while some photos may not display the extra strengthening parts behind the board. The Raspberry Pi is positioned on standoffs at the front of the case, with the hole on the left-hand side to accommodate the network cable entering through the rear of the cabinet and connecting to the rj45 on the pi. A dedicated hole is located on the top-left panel for the hdmi to vga converter. An 11mm hole at the back provides access for a power connection, while a key lock secures the power on functionality. The front panel is secured by four black self-tapping screws at the sides, unlike some photos that show them passing through the panel.
