rack hangers
thingiverse
These parts are designed for hanging items in 19" computer racks and other areas. The rack hanger was specifically created to fit snugly into 3/8" square holes found in various spots on the rack. These can be printed using either hard plastic like PLA or TPU. These parts are intended for use with a loop of string tied in a cow hitch knot. The string hook end is designed to have a loop of string wrapped over it, then around a bundle of wire, and through the pair of strings that form the loop. For this to work, there must be sufficient tension on the string to keep it securely in place. If the rack features two holes side by side or a hole near an edge, the string loop can be tied over the edge. If only one square hole is nearby, the rack hanger can be used instead. If the rack has a large slot connected to a square hole, the hanger with string attached can be passed through and then slid into the square hole, pulled through with the string. If access to the back of the hole is available, the hanger can be inserted from behind. If access to the back of the hole is not possible, a TPU hanger (80% infill recommended) can be printed and squeezed into the hole from the front. Note that PLA hangers may delaminate under heavy pressure, while TPU ones seem more durable. These parts can be hung from the top or sides of the rack, from square holes in the rails, or by looping string around screws if convenient screw holes are available. Different rack manufacturers provide various holes in different locations, so examine carefully the area where you want to place your wires to see what options are available. These parts can be used to bundle cables together and keep them secure, restrain them temporarily, hang KVM cables, or attach anything else (like headphones from a hard drive magnet).
