Race Car
thingiverse
This group project involved designing a multi-part toy using Solid Edge, with our prototyping process and tolerances integrated into the design phase. The car was created by Harvey, Karl, and Keith. It was 3D printed on a Makerbot Replicator Dual using red and blue PLA at 190 extruder temperature and zero bed temperature. Wheels had 40% infill with one shell (four needed), while locks and axles boasted 100% infill without any shells (also four required). The back and engine components featured 40% infill with one shell, while support was provided for the front, chair pieces, and engine. Holes and pegs differed by .2 mm to ensure a friction fit, while wheels had a .5 mm gap from axle holes to allow rotation.
