Ra Ra Ra for Rocket!

Ra Ra Ra for Rocket!

My three-year-old is completely enamored with Disney's Little Einsteins, so I embarked on a quest for toys. Apparently no one manufactures Little Einsteins toys anymore, and the second-hand ones are selling for outrageous prices on EBay and Amazon. As a father with access to a 3D printer, what choice did I have? I decided to make one myself! \nI printed in Ninjaflex for a durable toy that works well for bath time too. For the print in the photo, I divided the part into two halves and used a hot knife to remove support material on the fins and antenna. By heating a thin metal spatula over a candle and sliding it between the two halves, I managed to fuse them together perfectly. Glue does not work very well on Ninjaflex.\nI printed mine half-size in white and colored with permanent markers... unfortunately the red came out pink, but my kiddo still loves it. I would recommend using red filament as a base instead if you want it to resemble Rocket from the cartoon.\n*I reprinted at three-quarters scale in semiflex, and that worked just as well as Ninjaflex did. An adjustable-temperature hot knife was used to mold and reshape the antenna and get the ball on top to look right.
