R8 Collet
thingiverse
Let's face it, there's no way a 3D printed collet will hold up to milling tools. I actually designed this for size checks while working on other parts, not actual use. I'm uploading this in case others find some use for it. I based the design on R8 specifications found online. Dimensions are defined at the top of the OpenSCAD file for anyone who wants to make changes. The OpenSCAD file includes a module called collet() with the basic shape of an R8 collet. I then modified this shape into an endmill holding collet named endmill_collet(). I used a thread library to create threads in the screw hole, but my version of OpenSCAD had issues with large size previews due to excess threads created. To fix this, I added a flag called "show_threads" that can be toggled between 0 and 1. When set to 0, it uses a simple cylinder instead of threads for successful preview during design.
