R6 Dome Logic Surround for RSeries Logic Engines
thingiverse
This is a remix of Mr. Baddeley's Front Logic Surround for his R6 Dome. The remix removes the frame around the back of the surround, widening it to display more of the blinky goodness. It also separates the surround into a front and back half in order to incorporate captive thin M3 nuts to hold JoyMonkey's RSeries Logic Engine. Note: The Club Spec R6 dome only has front logics, which are almost square in appearance. I've changed the design to widen the openings a bit since they are smaller than the width of R2's front logics. They are as wide as R2's in the back and get narrower towards the front. Additionally, even when stacking the Logic Engines on top of one another, the existing openings were too close together vertically to allow the lights to be seen. So, I've separated them again to allow the Blinky goodness to shine through. In doing so, there was rather an out of proportion gap between them, so I indented it to make the top and bottom logics more along the lines of R2's. On the inside of the dome, there is a vertical lip on the right side of the logic panel where the two main dome panels meet. I've indented the logic panel to account for this as well. Finally, there are three alignment holes suitable for 1.75mm filament. I used the following parts: 8 x Medium-Strength Steel Thin Hex Nut, Class 04, Zinc-Plated, M3 x 0.5 mm Thread, part number 90695A033: https://www.mcmaster.com/#90695a033/=1e7lgah 8 x 18-8 Stainless Steel Socket Head Screw, M3 x 0.5 mm Thread, 35 mm Long, part number 91292A033: https://www.mcmaster.com/#91292a033/=1e7mt01 1 x Version 2017 JoyMonkey Logic Engine: https://github.com/joymonkey/logicengine/wiki http://astromech.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?63 And, of course, Mr. Baddeley's excellent v2 3D printable R2-D2 droid: https://www.patreon.com/mrbaddeley Note: I think the included 30mm M3 screws will be slightly too short and the 35mm M3 screws I'm using might be 1 or 2 mm too long, so I also picked up these spacers: Chemical-Resistant PTFE Plastic Washer for M3 Screw Size, 3.2 mm ID, 8 mm OD, part number: 95630A620 https://www.mcmaster.com/#95630a620/=1e7qfl7
