This printer is based on Mendel Max and Prism style printers, constructed from Open Beam 15 x 15 aluminum extrusion, with a print area of 200 x 200 x 125 mm. For the assembly process, you'll need to pre-install 3mm nuts in the extrusion before putting it together, as they cannot be added afterward without disassembly. To see how it's done, refer to the photos on the Open Beam Prism blog at http://nzec.co.nz/r3dwood/. For the open beam extrusions, you need: - 2 top rails (442 mm each) - 4 front/rear rails (330 mm each) - 2 side rails (330 mm each) - 4 diagonals (330 mm each or 330 + 30-degree miter, depending on the blog). These can be cut from 5 x 1m lengths of Open Beam extrusion. A mitre-box is available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:32668. For linear rods, you'll need: - X-axis: 8mm x 450 mm long - Y-axis: 8mm x 390 mm long - Z-axis: 10mm x 400 mm long Hardware requirements include: - 4 x 10mm LM10UU bearings - 8 x 8mm LM8UU bearings - 2 x 608 bearings - 80 x M3 x 8mm hex socket machine screws - 10 x M3 x 10mm hex socket machine screws - 80 x 3mm washers - 80 x M3 nuts For the belt system, GT2-3 timing belt with 3mm pitch and printable 23 tooth pulleys for Y and X axes are recommended. If using GT2-3 belt, use the GT2-3 clamps and pulleys. Alternatively, T2.5 belt can be used along with a 25T T2.5 pulley and clamps. The printer is now operational with Marlin firmware and SD card support on an Azteeg X3 controller. The corner plates have been modified to accept straight cut extrusion using the CornerPlateL3.stl and CornerPlateR3.stl files.
