Mod Kit for Flsun I3 Printer
**Long-Term Use Update** I've been using the mods in this kit since early 2017, and I'm happy to report that they've worked flawlessly. The printer has become a "turn on and print" machine, with no issues with bed leveling after disabling the stepper motor timeout setting in the firmware. It's handled fine prints at 0.04 layer height to large vases at 120mm/s print speed. I also added a magnetic flexible build plate and TMC2208 drivers for quieter operation. **** This is part one of three mods designed specifically for the Flsun I3 printer. This kit will help stabilize the X and Z axes, fix z wobble, and address most layer line issues. It requires hardware upgrades, but they're relatively inexpensive. Use the photo with the ruler as a guide for spacing. There's about 2-3mm of space between the leadscrew and motor rod inside the coupler. **Don't forget to change the Z_MAX_POS to 255mm like I did, and have your first 250mm print stop at 220!** *Update: Added photos of a recent print and dimensions for anti-backlash nuts* *Update: Printing smoothly at 100mm/s. With all mods in this series, I can easily go up to 120mm/s.*
Notes on Printed Parts:
**Top Rods Holder**: These are modified top brackets with a tighter fit and a hole for the leadscrew. **Lead Screw Wobble Brackets**: These use skateboard bearings to keep the leadscrew in a fixed axis and aligned with the top rods holder. **XZ Carriages fitted for Anti-Backlash Nuts**: Left & Right - These will fit anti-backlash nuts and igus delrin bearings. You can also use steel linear bearings, but you may need to sand out holes. **XZ Carriages Original Fittings**: Left & Right - For fitting steel bearings and regular nut. **Z Limit Switch Mount**: Modified for better stability over the Lead Screw Wobble Brackets. **Hotend X Carriage**: Adjusted fan mounts for better alignment. Modified belt holes for easier mounting. Modified to fit igus bearings.
Required Hardware:
* 2x 370-400mm Lead Screws (I used 400mm) * 2x Skateboard Bearings * 2x Anti-Backlash Nuts - see photo for specific dimensions. * Fiberglass reinforced belt (optional but highly recommended) - less stretch over time. * 4x Igus Delrin Linear Bearings (optional) - you can also use the original steel bearings. I've included the original XZ brackets, so you don't need to use anti-backlash nuts. However, I recommend using the modified version for full benefit. =====================================================
Links to Kit Series:
**Part 1**: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2307152 - Fixes layer shifting and wobble.
