R2D2 Periscope / LifeScanner / Lightsaber Lift System

This is a project in progress. This lift design incorporates parts from user mascal's lift system, modified to attach to the dome top I altered for mr baddeley's r2d2 model. It uses dowel rods as slide rods and a threaded screw to lift devices, with the core system working fine. The lifts are still being tweaked for the periscope and light saber, which will be updated once completed. The life scanner works without modification from mascal's designs. Print the top and bottom of the lift with supports to keep dowel rod holes clear. I suggest using solid PLA+, PETG, or ABS for the screws due to their strength, as plain PLA easily snapped under stress. Lightsaber lift.stl - should be functional, made it modular with three sabers that can be swapped out. The periscope and life scanner were included to save time hunting them down. The periscope consists of parts from different releases, so print the lenses in clear material; I use a pie piece from r2 dome files from mr baddeley for my setup. The life scanner was made by mascal, but I added a servo adapter to make it sit better on the server. Six dowel rod sliders are required, with screws attaching the bottom to the dowel ends and then the top. You can also screw the top to the dowel rods. A thin circle of craft foam between the lift top and dome helps prevent sliding; you could glue it in for a more permanent solution. I aimed to keep my design modular. A low-profile saber lift was added to address issues with tube snagging on the dome or hinge system, allowing for more saber visibility and reduced filament usage. This may require editing the next section on sabers to account for the height change, which will be posted once completed.
