Please view this video for more details: https://youtu.be/hH4L06uxcRU. The survey for my next project has now been completed. I'll post a video soon highlighting the winner and sharing my plans to bring it into reality! This is the non-electronic version of the R2-D2 robot that I designed here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1205821. I removed all parts specifically intended for electronic components, and instead of using screws to hold everything together, I created small cylindrical connectors. You can see those in the "extras" file. The tallest ones are used to connect the body to the arms and legs. The mid-sized ones join the butt plate to the middle leg. The smaller ones link the body to the butt plate. These connectors should be quite secure, but a little glue will ensure they stick together if needed. The head simply slides on, and once turned, it falls into a groove so the head can rotate without easily coming off. I haven't printed this myself, so please let me know if there are any issues while printing, and I'll do my best to fix them. However, everything should be printable at 0.3mm layer height, and all necessary supports are already included in the models. This model can also be scaled to some extent. The pegs may make scaling difficult, but you should be able to downsize it slightly. I hope you enjoy this design! Please post if you decide to build one!
