R2D2 foot build for full-size 3D print assembly. Exercise caution when installing captive nuts. The 8MM bar serves as a hinge, while the 3mm bar is used for the leg bar (a crucial component in maintaining stability in upright position). As I design and build, I'm sharing my progress with you. If you encounter any issues, please don't hesitate to let me know. This file includes the Leg rod, which connects the 6mm fixed bar to the foot, ensuring it stands upright and moves to an 18-degree position. To secure the rod in place, use 3mm 40mm bolts and captive nuts, adding them as you glue. The rod's stability is critical; I recommend printing it with at least 90% infill for added strength. My printer settings were layer height .30, 6 shells, and 100% infill. You'll need one bar per leg (only the right foot and bar are included here, with the left one to follow soon). Attach the bar to the front fixed 6mm bar near the shoulder of the leg. Additional components required include sourcingmap M3x40mm Hex Socket Head Knurled Cap Screws Bolts Nuts Set 50Pcs from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015A3CV2Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_K2azxbWTKP868). I've added the 26/6 Battery Box and Battery Harness to this file. For a demonstration of the Feet / Leg mechanism in 2-3-2 conversion, watch this video (https://youtu.be/O0uImKep5bk). The design allows for an 18-degree angle (total 36 degree leg swing), and I tested how solidly the leg bar could hold the feet. You can see it self-supporting in 3-leg mode without the third leg, which pleased me. It also stands up without support on 2-leg mode with a little flex. Overall, I'm delighted. Next step: automating the entire process... Please note that the remaining design will be shared on Astromech.net (a free community). For links to files and updates, check out my Patreon page. I'll always share all files for free and provide original source files. I've now completed a complete revision of all models, version 2 (shared freely and openly), available at https://www.patreon.com/mrbaddeley.
