R2D2 cleaned up container
thingiverse
This is a remix of my R2D2 cleanup built with LED light on top. This time, the dome and body are connected using a thread. See my 5mm LED holder; I used the same method. As usual, I've created many variations from a basic design that I started with. Just in case you want to make your own files, Eunny has an instructional video about designing the R2D2 at YT video 6Rk2UbD2KsI. Update I've printed the V3-4-4 body after increasing the wall thickness step by step. Eventually, my printer produced the part without any issues. The wall thickness had to be made much thicker than expected. It fits perfectly with the dome part. If there is an option to display layers without visible support material, please do this in your preview. Check the preview first! The wall thickness should be two perimeters or more. See my latest addition, the rocket thruster (Schubdüse). There are two versions; choose one depending on the height of the body's bottom side above the ground. Put a 5mm hole into the bottom section of the body. A screw M3 with nut and washer could be used to tighten it up, but 3.6mm pins or a 3.5mm plastic screw could also work. Pictures are taken from R2D2 versions made during development. - All latest prints are made from V3 body files, which are 43.5mm tall. - The V2 body was only 40mm tall. Why the LED light on top of the dome? I couldn't print a perfectly smooth top with my printer. The LED does it perfectly. I have no plan to illuminate this thing.
