R2C2 Electronics box with fan
thingiverse
This is a ventilated compact enclosure for the R2C2 32-bit ARM Electronics controller. It comprises two sections plus buttons and fan housing. Some users have pointed out in the R2C2 Support Google Group that passive cooling sometimes isn't sufficient to cool the drivers, so the printer may wait for them to cool down and restart, resulting in frequent pauses. Adding a fan resolves this issue, as inner box fins direct airflow exactly where it's needed. Instructions Print one of each section, except for the button (two are required) and only one of the bottom lids, since one has engraved "R2C2 Electronics" text, while the other does not. Print the transparent led lid using a transparent filament material. Note: The top lid should be printed with its top face facing downwards; otherwise, many supports will be needed. Although it's still essential to provide supports for airflow fins by printing it in this position, the amount required is significantly reduced when compared to printing it upside down. Place the R2C2 board inside the enclosure - due to a tight fit, there's no need to add screws; however, if necessary, use the provided holes and 3mm screws. Insert a 40x40 24v fan by passing its power connector through the square hole. Snap it into the holder and secure it with the fan cover (add a dust filter or grid as needed). Screw in the cover using 3mm screws or apply adhesive to seal it firmly to the lid. Securely glue the transparent led lid in its corresponding recess in the top lid. Attach the fan connector to the innermost connector (nearest the "R" of "R2C2"). Insert the buttons into the top lid from inside and secure them with your fingers while closing the enclosure. Lastly, employ 4mm screws and nuts to keep it together.
